Description
Churchwell is a building located immediately west of the church tower in Winchcombe, and it consists of three cottages that have been combined into one dwelling. The cottages likely date back to the 16th century and have undergone significant modifications over time. The structure features a box timber frame that is partly set on a rubble limestone plinth, with a 19th-century extension made of painted brick. The back walls are also partly constructed from rubble, and the building has a thatched roof. There is a stack on the left side, situated at the junction between the original and later sections, as well as a left gate. Additionally, there is a large flat-roofed extension on the right side. The entrance door is glazed and dates from the 20th century. The interior has not been seen. This building appears to have originally served as three labourers' cottages in the heart of the original village, which is associated with the old church, now represented only by its tower.
