Description
This building, originally a house and now occupied by Midland Bank, dates from the 17th century, with possible remnants from the 16th century. It features a painted stone exterior and a stone slate roof. The structure has two storeys and an attic, with a small glazed dormer above three cross-mullioned wooden windows from the 17th century. The ground floor has two 20th-century display windows, with a deep recess between them accessed by three steps leading to a late 20th-century panelled door. To the right, there is an arched throughway, which has the inscription 'BAPTIST CHAPEL JAN 1 1811' on the archivolt; the chapel, which is not listed, is located behind the premises. There are also a pair of iron gates with a simple bar overthrow. A deep wing with a Welsh slate roof features a large stack with an ashlar base, while the upper part is rendered. Inside, there is a deep chamfered and stopped beam, along with some chamfered joints. To the right, there is a large blocked fireplace with a flat chamfered opening, and on the left, another fireplace with beaded moulding and a central keystone.
