SO8932 ABBEY CHURCHYARD, Abbey Precincts 859-1/6/370 Unidentified monument approx. 10m north of north-east corner of Abbey porch

GV II

Upright chest tomb. Early to mid C18. Limestone. Flat ledger to inset corners and moulded edges, bold cartouche panel N side and panel with leaf supporters to S. Short ends are bold scrolls, to the E with skull and bones. Moulded base on platform. This is a vigorous design characteristic of the earlier C18, but is badly worn, and no inscriptions legible.
