Description

This building consists of a barn, store, and stables located approximately 5 meters northwest of Southfield House. It dates from the late 17th century to the early 18th century, with some mid-18th century elements. The structure features square-panelled timber-framing with brick infill, a brick store, and a corrugated iron roof with red tiles. The buildings are arranged to form a rectangle in plan.

The barn, which is from the late 17th to early 18th century, has a single-pitched corrugated iron roof at its center, although this part is not considered of special interest. At the north gable end, there is a single-storey timber-framed store with a red tile roof. The mid-18th century store is attached to the south gable end of the barn; it has two storeys and an attic, featuring five blocked windows with cambered heads on the south gable end facing the road. There is an early plank door leading to a lean-to passage on the left, which has a cambered brick arch above it. The store also includes a hipped roof dormer and a brick parapet with kneelers, as well as brick dentil decoration at the eaves.

Inside the mid-18th century brick store, there are three stilted-headed arches with keystones and imposts leading from the lean-to passage into the main area of the store, with the north gable end open to the barn. The barn itself has five bays and was originally designed with an upper floor, but the queen strut roof has been truncated and reduced to a single-pitched roof. The mid-18th century brick store is prominently positioned along the roadside.
