Description
Monk's Rest is a 17th-century cottage featuring square-panelled timber framing with painted brick infill, and it is encased in brick in some areas. The cottage has a thatched roof with a painted brick stack and a rectangular plan. The garden front includes a flat-roofed open-sided porch, which is not of special interest. The building has one and a half storeys. From left to right on the garden front, there is an early plank door set within the flat-roofed porch, followed by a two-light casement window, a single-light window, another two-light casement, and a smaller two-light casement. There are also two two-light eaves dormers, and all windows feature decorative leaded panes. The west gable end is half-hipped, and there is an axial stack. The interior has not been inspected.
