Description

Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th to early 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th century. It features square-panelled timber framing with brick infill, which is visible in the gable ends of the main structure, while the rest of the gable ends and the entrance front are finished in painted brick. The later extensions are made of red brick, which is now painted white, and the roof is covered with red tiles.

The main body of the farmhouse has projecting stacks at the gable ends, constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone with brick shafts, both of which have been restored at the top. The main structure is rectangular and two storeys high, with a two-windowed entrance front. On the first floor, there are two 3-light 19th-century casement windows, and similar casements with segmental-headed surrounds are found on the ground floor. A 20th-century part-glazed lean-to porch is located at the centre of the entrance front.

There is a blocked exterior access to a former bread oven, with a brick arch visible in the projecting stack on the left gable end. The left gable end has a single star-shaped chimney shaft, while the right gable end features a twin star-shaped stack. Additionally, there is a projecting stack from the 19th-century extension at the rear. The interior is not accessible for viewing. This building is situated close to the Church of St. Nicholas and may have historically served as the rectory.
