Description

Northway Court is a farmhouse built in the 18th century, constructed in two phases with the earliest section located at the rear and extended in the 19th century. It features Flemish bond red brick and a red tile roof with brick stacks. The symmetrical facade is two stories high with three windows. The ground floor has tripartite sashes, including a central 12-pane sash. There is a central 6-panel door with a fanlight, set back within a round-headed fluted surround, and a flat projecting hood supported by brackets. Above the door, there is a twelve-pane sash within a round-headed surround, flanked by 4-pane sashes. All windows have gauged brick heads with keystones and moulded decoration. The building has a parapet with a string course featuring moulded dentil decoration. The 19th-century extensions have a lower roofline and are set back to the right, with a 20th-century three-light casement with a transom on the ground floor and a two-light casement on the first floor, along with a brick dentil cornice. Steps in front of the extension provide access to a cellar beneath the main body of the house. There is also a single-storey wash house extension to the right. The main body has a parallel-ridged roof with stacks at the gable ends, and both the extensions and wash house have gable-end and lateral stacks. The gable ends of the extension and main body feature flat coping. Inside, there is 18th-century panelling in the rear left-hand room, though the interior has not been fully inspected.
