Description
Northway Mill is a former corn mill dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick and features a slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan, and retaining walls of the mill ponds are still present immediately to the east of the mill. The gable end facing the house has a stable door within a segmental-headed surround. Curved steps around the corner of the building provide access to the mill pond. There is a stable-type pitching door in the upper left, also within a segmental-headed surround, and a two-light casement window near the apex of the gable end. The left gable end contains four two-light steel casement windows, each within segmental-headed surrounds. An iron wheel projects from the first floor level on the left-hand return, likely once connected via a belt drive to a traction engine for additional power. Inside, the mill features a flagged floor and retains its machinery, including three grinding wheels, a pulley, and gearing. The mill ceased production in 1946.
