Description
Elm Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the 17th century, with a later extension. It features square-panelled timber-framing with rendered infill, while the gable end facing the road is rendered. The extension is made of painted brick. The cottage has a thatched roof with decorative ridge thatching and brick stacks, along with an artificial stone slate roof on the lean-to. The main body has a rectangular plan with a later extension at the gable end away from the road. There is a 20th-century lean-to porch on the main body and dormers, including a three-light roof dormer and a two-light dormer at the eaves. The windows are mostly two and three-light casements, many with leaded panes. Access is through a plank door leading to the lean-to porch. A projecting stack is located at the gable end facing the road, and there is a large former gable end stack at the opposite end of the main body. The interior has not been inspected.
