Description
Guy's Manor Cottage is a detached house that was once divided into two separate homes, dating back to the 17th century. It features square-panelled timber-framing with painted brick infill, while the left gable end of the main body and the left-hand return of the extension are rendered. The cottage has a red tile roof and brick stacks. The main body has a rectangular plan and may have been built in two stages, with a later 17th-century extension that projects forward on the right, creating an 'L'-shaped plan. There is a 20th-century porch at the rear, which is not of special interest. The windows include single light, two-light, and three-light casements, with most featuring leaded panes. A three-light dormer is present at the eaves. The later 17th-century timber-framed extension has a half-hipped roof, and there are off-the-ridge chimneys on the main body and from the half-hipped section of the roof. Inside, the cottage has two open fireplaces with bressumers, and intersecting tie beams with deep flat chamfers and moulded stops.
