Description
No. 21 Barton Street is a house located at the end of a row, which also returns to Nelson Street. It dates from the early 18th century and features painted brickwork and a steep tile roof. The building has an L-shaped plan with a two-room central entry layout at the front and a 19th-century rear right wing. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and has three windows. Above the first floor, there are two large flat-roofed dormers that contain two-light windows with four-pane sashes. The ground floor, which was previously listed with a shop front, has two tripartite plain sashes and a central 20th-century door set in a rendered wall beneath a fascia band. A cill band is present at the first floor, along with a moulded eaves cornice. The return wall is plain, and at the back, there is a lower, set-back wing. The interior has not been inspected.
