Description
The Yeend monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard of the Church of St Nicholas, approximately 7 metres east of the south porch. It commemorates John Yeend, who died in 1667, and John Yeend, who died in 1713. The tomb is made of limestone and features an inscription set within simple reused foliate margins, which are flanked by raised heraldic shields on the south side. There are marginal panels adorned with raised strapwork. The decoration surrounding the inscription on the north side mirrors that of the south side. At the east end, there is an inscription for William Yeend, although the date is illegible, and it is set within a sunken round-headed surround. The opposite end has an illegible inscription within a similar segmental-headed surround. The tomb is topped with a thick capping that has a moulded margin.
