Description
Crown Cottage is a detached cottage dating to the late 18th century, with additions made in the 19th century. It is constructed of painted brick, with a red tile roof and brick stacks. The building has a rectangular plan, with later extensions to the gable ends. The main body of the cottage is two storeys high, while an extension to the left is also two storeys high but has a lower roofline; a single-storey extension is located to the right. The front facade of the main body contains two windows on each floor. The upper windows are 2-light metal casements with horizontal glazing bars, and a Sun Insurance plaque is situated between them. The ground floor windows are 20th-century 2-light wooden casements with horizontal glazing bars, set within segmental-headed surrounds. A 19th-century four-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed, is positioned off-centre to the left, sheltered by a 20th-century open-sided porch. The extensions feature 2-light casements, some with segmental-headed surrounds. Off-the-ridge and gable stacks are present, with the gable stack now incorporated into the extension. The interior was not inspected.
