Description

The John Rowles monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard of the Church of St Nicholas, approximately 7 metres south of the south porch. It commemorates John Rowles, who died in 1614, and Anthony Rowles, who died in 1659. The tomb is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone blocks. It features a bold inscription on the north side, set within a sunken flat-chamfered surround, and is topped with a thick capping that has a flat-chamfered margin.
