Description
The Shelter Shed at Berrow Farm is a structure from the first half of the 19th century designed for housing loose yard cattle. It is built from coursed, squared blue lias stone and features a tiled roof. The shed has eight bays and is single-storey with an open front supported by circular stone columns that carry a timber wall plate. The gable facing the road is plain, and there is a boarded door in a timber frame located to the right of the gable, near the barn. Inside, the floor is paved with brick, and the roof structure includes tie beam trusses with angled struts, along with one pair of staggered butt purlins and a plank ridge. This shelter shed is part of a group with the barn and is notable for its unusual circular piers, which are rare in this county.
