Description
The barn at Berrow Farm, likely built in the late 18th century, is constructed from coursed, squared blue lias stone and features a stone slate roof on the north side and a tiled roof on the south. It is a three-section barn with a lean-to central porch on each side. The porch has double boarded doors facing the road, with each door halved. There are two slit air vents in each bay on either side, with a single vent above. The barn has a stone ridge and cross-gablet ends at the gables, along with square pitching holes above the air vents on the opposite side. Internally, the barn consists of five bays, with the center bay being wide. There is a cupboard recess in the wall to the right of the porch towards the road, and a recess opposite for a former timber top that divided the threshing floor from the bays. The structure features tie-beam trusses with collars and two vertical struts, along with two pairs of butt purlins and a plank ridge. The barn forms a group with a shed for yard cattle nearby.
