Description
This is an early 18th-century farmhouse located in Alkrington. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone, with a roughcast finish on the right-hand return. The roof is covered in Cotswold stone slates, featuring moulded overhanging eaves and paired eaves brackets set into a fascia. There are two ashlar end stacks, each with an offset and moulded cornice. The farmhouse originally comprised a main range to which a later rear extension has been added, creating an L-shaped layout. The building is two storeys and has an attic. It has five windows on the front elevation, with a further four on the ground floor. These windows have leaded wood mullions and transoms, and wood lintels. A central doorcase, built of stone and raised two steps, provides access to a six-panel door; the upper four panels are fielded, while the lower two are flush with reeded edges, and there's a five-pane transom light above. Two hipped dormers, spaced widely apart, contain twin leaded casements. Most of the windows retain their original iron opening gear.
