Description
This is a barn located approximately 30 meters west of Hillhouse Farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of random rubble limestone and features a stone slate roof. The barn has four bays and includes a granary loft above a central porch on the west side. The porch has a gabled roof and a heavy timber lintel above the doorway, with a small loft opening featuring a timber lintel above it. There is a timber flight of steps leading to the loft doorway on the north side of the porch. The original outshuts have been removed. On the east side, there is a central barn doorway with a timber lintel and plank doors. The attached outbuildings to the east are not of special interest. The barn has loft openings on each gable end, with an owl hole on the south end. Inside, there is a 4-bay collar and tie-beam truss roof with two tiers of purlins, and the loft above the porch has a lath and plaster interior.
