Description
The Falcon is a public house dated 1659, located on Ludgate Hill in Wotton-under-Edge. It features a rough rendered exterior and a clay tile roof, forming an L-shaped block that adapts to the steep slope of the hill. The building has two storeys and is six-windowed, with sash windows that include glazing bars and broad surrounds set back 3 inches. A six-panel door is situated in a deep projecting stone Tuscan portico, which has a flat entablature and part-glazed doors to the right. The return face of the building is two to three storeys high and has three widely spaced windows. This section includes two three-light hollow chamfer stone mullioned windows with drips and labels, a large 19th-century sash window with bars, and a large delivery or carriage opening.
