Description
Hugh Perry Almshouses are almshouses built partly in 1638 and partly in 1712. The building features exposed rubble over a dressed stone plinth and has a stone slate roof. It consists of three wings arranged around a courtyard, with the street front displaying six 'Cotswold' gables and corresponding gables facing the courtyard, while the rest of the roofs are plain. The structure is two stories high with six bays facing the street, featuring two-light windows made of stone with hollow chamfered mullions and leaded glazing, along with square hoods and labels above. The central doorway has a stone flat elliptical arch with a panel and inscription above it, and there is an old wide plank door with vertical cover mouldings. The courtyard side has two-light windows in wood with stone cills and leaded rectangular lights, and some wood glazed doors in the 1638 block are set in chamfered wood surrounds with flat Tudor arched lintels. At the center of the main block, there is a hexagonal wood cupola with lead covering.
