Description
This is an 18th-century barn located approximately 75 metres north-east of Westfield Farmhouse. The barn is constructed of brick on a prominent stone plinth, with a stone slate roof. It has five bays, featuring central carriage openings beneath a flat brick soldier course. The gable end facing the road has two ranges of triple slots, and a pair of slots at each level on either side of the doors. Plank doors are present. Modern brick piers reinforce the jambs of the carriageways. The roof structure includes collar and tie beams, with three purlins to the carriage bay and two purlins to the remainder of the barn. It is likely that the barn originally had flooring on both sides of the carriage openings.
