Description
This description covers a group of three memorials located north of the north porch of the Parish Church of St Bartholomew.
The first memorial is a pedestal tomb from the early 19th century, made of sandstone. It features a square pyramidal top with a moulded edge, a moulded base on a plinth, a broad slab, a fluted frieze, and elliptical inscription panels. This tomb commemorates Thomas Luce, who died in 1802, and is situated approximately 9 meters north of the porch.
The second memorial is also a pedestal tomb from the early 19th century, constructed from sandstone. It has a square domed capping with a reeded edge, a square-edged plinth and base, and three-quarter reeded columns topped with palmette capitals. This tomb has elliptical inscription panels and honors William Parker, who died in 1809. It is located immediately north of the tomb of William Parker from 1742.
The third memorial is a chest tomb from the mid-18th century, made of limestone. It features a thick cyma top, a cavetto base, lyre ends, and a triple panel with drape carving. This tomb commemorates William Parker, who died in 1742, and is located about 5 meters north of the porch. At the time of the survey, this tomb was noted to be leaning.
