Description

Church Cottage and Grey Holme are two houses built in 1897, located in a row in Minchinhampton. The buildings are constructed from coursed and dressed limestone, featuring ashlar and artificial stone rebuilt chimneys, and have a stone slate roof with concrete tiles at the rear. They are two-storey structures with an attic.

The front facade showcases three steep gables, with a three-window arrangement on the upper floor and attic. The upper floor features three-light windows, while the attic has two-light windows, all of which are mullioned and have hoodmoulds with lead-latticed casements. The ground floor has four two and three-light casements arranged on either side of the doorways, which are topped with gabled porch hoods. A large lozenge datestone is positioned at the upper floor level, and there are small quatrefoil vents in the apex of each gable. The buildings have plain barge boards and four ridge-mounted chimneys with plain caps.

At the rear, there are two lean-to outshuts. The interior has not been inspected. The attached house at the south end, Tyndoll Cottage, is not of special interest. Church Cottage and Grey Holme remain largely unaltered and significantly contribute to the Victorian character of the center of Amberley village.
