Description

The Moore monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 4 meters east of the Smith monument and to the north of the Church of St. Nicholas. It dates from 1791 and is made of sandstone. The tomb is rectangular and features gadrooned corner balusters, with recessed panels on the ends. The west end has a funereal urn, while the east end displays a realistically carved floral drop. On the north side, there is a large oval inscription panel with a roped border and realistically carved roses in the spandrels. The south side has a large raised oval panel with paterae in the spandrels. The monument has a cavetto moulded top and base and is inscribed on the north side to William Moore, who died in 1791. It is very well preserved.
