Description
Cuckooland Cottage, Pathways, and Nos 2 to 5 and No 6, Prospect Terrace form an original terrace of eight houses, now reduced to six, built in the mid to late 18th century. The houses are constructed of random rubble limestone with ashlar detailing and rebuilt brick chimneys, and have roofs covered with Welsh slate, asbestos slate, and concrete tiles. The terrace is built on a curve, stepping down the hill. The front elevation generally features a two-window pattern for each house, with 2-light chamfered mullioned casement windows. Various lean-to porches and gabled porch additions have been made to the front, and there are two gabled roof dormers on No 6. A 20th-century addition at the south end is not of architectural significance. The rear has few windows, some of which are small single-light openings. The interiors remain uninspected. This is a long terrace, originally used as weavers' cottages, which has some importance for its landscape setting.
