Description
Two chest tombs and one headstone, located approximately 37 meters southeast of the north gateway to the churchyard of the Church of St Mary, date from the early 18th century and are made of limestone.
The first chest tomb features a thick flat table with a moulded edge, supported by lyre ends adorned with cartouches and putti draped on one side. The opposite face has a bolection moulded panel, and it rests on a wide flared base with a slab sub-base. This tomb commemorates Richard Poole, who died in 1707.
The second chest tomb also has a thick flat table with a moulded edge and lyre ends, featuring cartouches and a wide flat cavetto base on a slab sub-base. Although the inscription is not legible, it is attributed to John Webb and dates to 1736, which fits the design style.
To the east of the two chest tombs lies a head or footstone that includes a cartouche and a winged angel head, though the inscription is not legible.
