Description

The gate piers to St Mary's Church were built in 1748 by John Bryan. This pair of gate piers, which do not have gates, are approximately 480 mm square and stand 2.25 meters high. Each pier features two sunk moulded panels with raised vermiculated centers on the outer faces, and they have moulded caps on square blockings. The piers are set about 5 meters apart. John Bryan, a carver known for his work on monuments in the churchyard, is said to have designed these piers.
