Description
No. 8 High Street is a dwelling and bakery dated 1798, as indicated on the central parapet. The building is constructed of painted brick and features concrete plain tiles behind a high parapet. It has two contiguous projecting wings with unequal gables; one wing is made of rubble while the other is rendered at the rear. The structure stands three storeys tall and has four windows: the top floor has alternate glazed and blind sashes, while the first floor features four sashes, all with glazing bars, stepped voussoirs, and keystones. The building includes a 19th-century shop front with a shallow bow to the left, a glazed door beneath a decorated fanlight and a hood supported by brackets, along with a second 19th-century front to the right. The date panel on the building records "P.S.M. 1798."
