Description
SO 70 SE COALEY THE STREET 2/58K (east side)
Group of two Hill and one unidentified memorials c6 m east of south-east corner of chancel of GV Parish Church of St Bartholomew II
(i) Chest tomb. Mid C18. Limestone. Thick moulded top, baroque ¼ balusters and cartouches. Inscriptions not legible. North side missing, base sunk and memorial in poor condition at time of survey.
(ii) Chest tomb. Mid C18. Limestone. Thick moulded top, cavetto base on plinth, crudely carved lyre ends. Inscription on south side mid C19, but design is C18 baroque. - HILL, n.d.
(iii) Tall chest tomb. Early C19. Sandstone. Weathered top, square edge, chamfered base on podium formerly railed. Plain panels with quadrant corners. BENJAMIN HILL, 1820.
