Description
The gate piers, steps, and boundary walls to the Church of St Cyr were built in the mid-19th century, likely designed by J L Pearson. The gate piers are made of Cotswold limestone and measure approximately 500 millimeters square and 2.7 meters high. They feature steep cross-gabled cappings with a frieze band and two trefoils on each face, along with a plain shaft and plinth. There are two wooden gates, each 1 meter wide and 1 meter high, which are accessed by five steps. A wrought iron lamp overthrow is present, although the lamp itself is missing. The boundary walls are constructed from squared marlstone with saddle back coping, varying in height from 1.5 to 1.8 meters, and they form an enclosure from the north-east corner of the churchyard to the south-west of the church tower, including a pair of wooden gates.
