Description
Sills House is a detached dwelling built in the late 18th century. It features a rendered front with pointed rubble or pointed brick returns and a wing, topped with a Welsh slate roof that has a plain wood modillion cornice. The building is L-shaped, with a narrow wing return on the right. The main block is two storeys high and has three windows, including two canted bays on the ground floor with sashes that do not have bars. The first floor has three sashes with glazing bars beneath stepped voussoirs. The central entrance has a modern door framed by flat fluted pilasters and a 'Doric' doorcase with a steep open pediment. On the left return gable, there are two very small openings for the roof space. The narrow wing on the right has one window with sashes that include an arched head with radial bars on the first floor. The large back wing contains 19th-century sashes with bars. Sills House is elevated above the pavement and set back from the road, forming a group with Beechwood House and Sandpits House.
