Description
Nupend House is a detached house, likely dating back to at least the 17th century, and originally recorded in 1637. Part of the original structure survives, although it has a large 20th-century extension to the right which is not of special architectural interest. The rear elevation retains roughcast timber framing, while the front has been refaced with brick, probably in the late 18th century, and sits on a brick plinth. The roof is covered in concrete tiles, with a stone ridge stack slightly to the right of the doorway and a projecting brick stack to the left on the first floor. The house is arranged as a single range of two storeys and an attic, with two gables facing the front. These gables slope downwards towards the outer edges and have a small lean-to on the right, giving the appearance of a catslide roof. The left-hand gable features a radial glazed oculus in the apex. The first floor has three windows, each a 3/2/3-light cambered head wood casement. On the ground floor there’s a wider 3-light window to the left and two 2-light windows to the right, alongside a central half-glazed 4-panel door and a later brick gabled porch with a shingled gable. The interior has not been inspected.
