Description
The Mary Browning chest tomb, located approximately 2.5 meters north of the end bay of the north wall at the Church of St. Cyr, dates from the early 18th century. It is made of limestone and features cyma capping and a moulded plinth. The tomb has lyre-shaped scrolled end panels adorned with emblems. On the north side, there is an enriched cartouche with putti, while the south side has a plainer inscribed panel. There are traces of limewash on the surface. The tomb commemorates Mary Browning, who died in 1727. It stands within a formerly railed enclosure that also contains chest tombs for Thomas Marbett, John Marbett, and John Marbett II.
