Description
Little Horsepools is a detached house, part of a pair, built in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with a concrete tile roof featuring coped gables. The house has a long rectangular plan, with a gabled return on the left and a deep cross-gabled wing at the right rear. It stands two storeys high, with an attic and part basement.
The front facade has one window above and three below, all of which are 12-pane sashes, except for a 9-pane sash in the gable. A flat band at the base of the gable continues as an eaves band. On the ground floor, to the right of a 20th-century glazed door that is sheltered by a flat hood, there is a flat-roofed canted bay with 8:16:8-pane sashes. The right return features a 2-light casement above two 12-pane sashes and a door. The main front also includes a 16-pane sash to the right and a blocked elliptical opening. A chimney stack made of concrete block is located on the right-hand gable, while an ashlar stack is positioned at the ridge to the left of the door.
Little Horsepools is one of a pair of rather grand houses, along with Horsepools House, and has seen little alteration from the view along the road.
