Description
Back Edge Cottage is a small detached house dated 1718, as indicated by the date stone above a blocked doorway. The building is constructed of squared and coursed limestone with a concrete tile roof. It has two storeys and features two windows on the ground floor, which are 2-light recessed chamfer stone mullioned casements, situated under a continuous stopped hood. There is a large plain lintel with the date stone on a shield above the central blocked opening. The right side of the cottage has two 3-light iron casements with glazing bars, with the attic window set to a segmental head and featuring chamfered stone mullions. At the back, there is one 2-light opening. The cottage includes a lean-to glazed porch on the left and a door leading to a gable entry, along with a further 1-storey lean-to. A brick stack is present, and the barn that was previously associated with the cottage has been demolished.
