Description
Everest Cottage is a detached house dating from the late 17th century, with a 19th-century addition to the rear. It is constructed of coursed rubble limestone, featuring a brick chimney and a stone slate roof. The building is two stories high, with a front that has single-window fenestration, consisting of chamfered mullioned casements with iron casements; the ground floor has a hoodmould. To the left of the front is a doorway with a low pointed-arched stone lintel and a 20th-century lean-to porch. A tall ridge-mounted chimney is located at the north gable end. At the rear, there is a parallel-roofed addition with a 2-light mullioned casement. Inside, there is a large fireplace that has been reduced in size and a spiral staircase adjoining it. The interior features ogee beam chamfer stops. Everest Cottage is part of a group with the Bear Inn.
