Description

Overcourt Cottages with gate piers are former coach house and stables that have been converted into two houses in a row. They date from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century to the coach house and stable range, and underwent restoration in the 20th century. The cottages are built from coursed rubble limestone, with chimneys made of ashlar and artificial stone, and feature a stone slate roof, with concrete tiles on the rear.

The southeast front has a long elevation with ground floor casements that are chamfered mullioned, featuring two, three, and four lights under a continuous hoodmould that rises over the door lintels. There are two blocked doors, one of which has a plank door. To the left, there is an oval arched coach doorway with imposts and a keystone, also fitted with plank doors. The upper floor has five two-light chamfered mullioned casements, each with hoodmoulds. The roof has three ridge-mounted chimneys with plain caps.

At the southwest end, there is an attached wall that connects to one of a pair of gate piers, which have moulded caps and tall ogee supports topped with ball finials. Some alterations have been made to the gables, including a gabled porch addition at the northeast end. The rear of the building features mixed fenestration, including some mullioned casements. The interior has not been inspected.
