Description

Manor Cottages, which include an attached coach house, are semi-detached cottages dating from the 18th century and were rebuilt in the early 19th century. They are constructed from rubble stone and feature tiled hipped roofs with a central ashlar stack. The cottages face gable-end towards the road, with a barn positioned at right angles to them.

The two-storey south front has a two-window layout. To the left of the entrance, there is a half-glazed door set in a Tudor-arched doorway, which has a 3-light transom light above it. Flanking this door are 3-light flush mullioned windows in cyma-moulded surrounds, and to the left, there is a 2-light mullioned window. The first floor features a plat band and two 3-light flush mullioned windows, also with cyma-moulded surrounds.

On the right side of the building, there are two 3-light mullioned windows on both the ground and first floors, an external stack, and a battlemented blocking course that faces Teffont Manor. The left side has a 20th-century planked door leading into a glazed conservatory and a 3-light mullioned window on the first floor.

At the rear, there is a moulded square-headed doorway with a 6-panelled door, flanked by 3-light mullioned windows on either side. There is also a 20th-century door to the left, and the first floor has a plat band, a 20th-century steel window, and blocked windows. The interior has not been inspected.

The attached coach house features three recessed hollow-chamfered windows on the south gable. The west side facing the road has a planked door, a pivot-hung window, a casement, and a single recessed chamfered light. The rear includes two tall recessed hollow-chamfered 2-light windows, a chamfered round-arched carriage door, and planked double doors to the right. The interior of the coach house has also not been inspected. These cottages are part of the Teffont Manor estate and were rebuilt by John Mayne in the 1820s.
