Description
Garden Cottage is a small house that is attached to Middle Lypiatt Farmhouse and dates from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of random rubble limestone with ashlar chimneys and has a stone slate roof. The building is two stories high with an attic and has a T-shaped plan.
On the southwest side, the gable end projects forward to the right and features a single-window, 2-light chamfered mullioned casement with leaded glass and hoodmoulds. There is a projecting stone shelf below the attic casement. To the left, there is a large vehicle passageway with a timber lintel above a 2-light window.
On the southeast side, there is a 3-light casement on the ground floor and a 2-light casement above, both with hoodmoulds. To the right, there is a lean-to with a 20th-century casement that has a rendered lintel. The chimneys on the two gable ends have chamfered caps. The interior has not been inspected.
