Description

Foresters Cottage is a detached house built in the mid to late 17th century, with an addition from the mid to late 18th century. The structure is made of random and coursed rubble limestone, featuring rebuilt chimneys in ashlar and artificial stone, and has a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high with an attic.

The front of the cottage has scattered mullioned casements. The earliest part of the building is on the right, which includes a hipped roof porch addition that has a reset 2-light chamfered mullioned casement, with a 2-light casement above it. To the right on the ground floor, there is a 3-light window. To the left, there is a 20th-century gabled addition that contains a 3-light casement on the ground floor and a small 2-light casement above.

On the west end, the gable end features single-window fenestration, with a 3-light window on the ground floor, a 2-light window on the upper floor, and a single-light window in the attic, all of which have hoodmoulds. There is a gable-mounted chimney with a moulded cap. The cellar doorway has been altered from its original mullioned casement design.

At the rear, there are similar scattered 2 and 3-light chamfered mullioned casements with hoodmoulds, along with two gabled dormers at the eaves level that have 20th-century casements. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage was recorded as a public house in 1842.
