Description

Rodways is a former farmhouse that incorporates a barn and is now a detached house. It likely dates back to the early 16th century, with alterations from the 17th century. The building is constructed of coursed and random rubble limestone, featuring an ashlar chimney and a concrete tile roof. It is two stories high with an attic and has an outbuilding attached to the northeast end, along with a wing on the southeast side.

The northeast end has a parapet gable and a single window arrangement, which includes a three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement with a hood mould on both the ground and upper floors, as well as a single-light window with a hood mould in the attic. The attached single-storey outbuilding has a two-light casement in its gable end.

On the northwest side, there is 20th-century restored mullioned fenestration, including one set of glazed doors. The roof features three gabled dormers, one of which is mounted at the eaves from the 19th century. There is also a small fixed-light window with a timber lintel aligned with a ridge-moulded chimney that has a chamfered cap. Other fenestration is from the 20th century.

Although the interior was not inspected, the roof retains some windbracing and shows signs of smoke-blackening. A photograph from the 1920s reveals large barn doors that once served the southwest part of the building, which has since been incorporated into the house.
