Description
Spire House is a free-standing house, now used as an office, located on the northwest side of New Street in Painswick. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and features a limestone ashlar front with coursed stone returns and a concrete tile roof. The building stands three storeys tall and has four windows. On the ground floor, there are two 12-pane sash windows, and to the far right, there is a large 20-pane light from the 20th century. The first floor has two 12-pane sashes, a blank light, and a canted oriel supported by brackets, topped with a swept lead roof. The second floor includes three 6-pane lights and one blank opening. The house has two gable stacks and one central stack, with a plain string course at the first floor level. A small plinth extends to the pavement just beyond the door, and on the right return, there is a 20th-century glazed door. At the back, there is a slightly projecting stair turret. The interior has not been inspected.
