Description
Rossway is a house located on the northwest side of Painswick New Street, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of rough coursed and squared limestone, which was formerly rendered, and has a concrete tile roof. The building stands two storeys tall with an attic and basement, featuring three windows. On the ground and first floors, there are 16-pane sash windows and a central 12-pane window above a six-panel door, which is topped with a transom light. This door is set within deep fielded panel reveals and a surround that includes a dentil cornice. Access to the entrance is via eight steps leading down to the basement area. The attic has two gabled dormers with two-light casements. In the basement, there are two four-light chamfered mullion casements with late 20th-century leaded glazing. The house has gable stacks and was originally rendered; pick marks are now visible on the stonework. The ground floor windows have interior shutters.
