Description
St Andrews is a narrow-frontage house located on the northwest side of Painswick New Street. It is part of a row of houses and is slightly set forward from the adjoining property on the left. The house is dated 1840 above the door, but its architectural style is similar to that of Dynevor House, which is dated 1801. The building is constructed of fine limestone ashlar and features a hipped roof covered with tiles behind a parapet.
The house has three storeys and two windows, including a full-height canted bay on the right side, with all windows being 12-pane sashes. On the left side, there is a 6-panel door from the 20th century, which is situated under a transom light within a pedimented doorcase that has dentils. This door is accessed by three steps, which have simple wrought iron handrails and balusters. The house also features a plinth, a plain cill band at the first floor, a moulded dentil cornice, and plain coping on the blocking that sweeps down on the left return. Additionally, there are deep brick stacks on the right that appear to be shared with the adjoining property.
