Description

Two houses in a row, dating from the mid-to-late 18th century. They are constructed of random rubble limestone, painted on the front elevation, with brick chimneys and a plain tile roof – the addition to No. 16 has replacement tile. The houses are two storeys high with an attic; No. 16 has a two-storey addition at its south end. The front elevation has a four-window arrangement of casement windows, all with timber lintels. A doorway is located at the right-hand end, leading to No. 14, with a 20th-century door. A further door to No. 16 is positioned within the extension to the left, with a 20th-century casement window above. There are four gabled roof dormers and ridge-mounted gable end chimneys. The rear has scattered casement windows, also with timber lintels. The buildings were likely constructed as weaver’s cottages, which accounts for the high ceiling to the upper floor. They form part of a group with the properties numbered 8 to 12.
