Description

This group of four chest tombs, dating from the mid-18th century, is located about 13 meters southeast of the raised railed enclosure in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary in Kingswood. The tombs are made of limestone.

The first tomb features a roll top with moulded capping and plinth on a base, along with elaborately carved lyre ends, an oval panel on the east side, and a plain west end. The sides have recessed panels with high relief foliage panels.

The second and third tombs are identical, each with a tent top, moulded capping, and plinth on a base. They have recessed square panels on both ends and two on each side.

The fourth tomb, located immediately east of the third, has a flat top with moulded capping and plinth, lyre ends with low relief returns, an oval panel on the east side, and a plain west end. The sides feature a recessed central panel with two small fielded rectangular panels stacked above each other on each side.
