Description

The Holder monument is a chest tomb located approximately 7 meters east of the Greening monument in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary in Painswick. It dates from the mid-18th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a flat top with a cyma mould edge, thin lyre ends, and plain fielded panels, supported by a wide cavetto base. Some lettering is still legible on the south side, including the name William Holder and the year 1737; he was a butcher in Painswick. The monument is situated immediately south of the path.
