Description
The Lych Gate is a structure built between 1901 and 1902, funded by Frances Sarah Williams. It features a half-timbered design with flush pilaster panels and a stone slate roof. The building has a cross-gabled shape and includes an upper room supported by an open timber structure on four by five posts set on stone bases. Facing the road, there is a two-light wood mullioned casement window and a decorative barge-board. The plaster panels display various inscriptions, including "Rejoice in the Lord" with musical notation, and the barge-board is marked "E.R.VIII". Inside, there is an inscription stating "Built of the Old Belfry Timber HDCCCCI-II". On the side facing the churchyard, there is a four-bay opening on a stone breast wall with a bench seat. This side also features the inscription "WHS Vicar ET and CF Churchwardens 1901. Victoria Reg Imp Requiat in Pace/Edouard Rex Imp/Requiet in Pace/Built at the charges of Mrs Frances Sarah Williams 1901". Above the passageway, there is a parish room or office.
