Description

The Joseph Hicks chest tomb, located 2.5 meters north of the north porch entrance to the Church of St Cyr, dates from 1739 and is made of limestone. It is designed in the Baroque style and features cyma capping and a cavetto base, set on a raised plinth. The tomb includes enriched quarter balusters and cartouches on the short ends and the south side, the latter being flanked by grieving putti. This tomb commemorates Joseph Hicks from 1739 and should not be confused with the adjacent memorial to another Joseph Hicks from 1728.
