Description

PAINSWICK GYDE ROAD SO 8610/8710 (east side) 6/114 Lodge to Gyde House with gate piers 10.4.86 II Lodge. Probably 1913 by Percy Richard Morley Horder. Dressed limestone, concrete tile roof. L-plan, with entrance to north having 3-light stone case- ments in central flush gable, over Tudor door flanked by small single lights and all under a stopped hood. To west, gable to road and set back wing, right, has 3-light casement over two small lights, all with stopped hoods; to south 2 staggered gables with 3 and 3-light over 3-light plus door, and single light at each level in projecting gable end. There is a large central stack. Attached to north corner is about 2 m of wall, then two square gate piers with obelisk finials. The whole forms a modest entry to the Main House (q.v.) in quiet but effective vernacular.
