Description

The lodge to Gyde House, likely built in 1913 by Percy Richard Morley Horder, is a Grade II listed building located on Gyde Road in Painswick. Constructed from dressed limestone with a concrete tile roof, the lodge is designed in an L-plan. The entrance, facing north, features a central flush gable with a three-light stone casement above a Tudor door, which is flanked by small single lights, all beneath a stopped hood.

To the west, there is a gable facing the road and a set-back wing on the right, which includes a three-light casement above two small lights, also with stopped hoods. The south side has two staggered gables, with a three-light window above another three-light window and a door, plus a single light at each level in the projecting gable end. A large central stack is present on the roof.

Attached to the north corner of the lodge is approximately 2 meters of wall, leading to two square gate piers topped with obelisk finials. This structure provides a modest yet effective entry to the main house, reflecting a quiet vernacular style.
